MOLLUSCUM CONTAGIOSUM
Molluscum Contagiosum is a common viral infection characterised by small fluid filled blister-like papules that cluster in different areas.
It appears mostly in children and will typically self resolve in healthy kids. However I have treated children who have severe and long-term molluscum. Parents may then be confronted by more severe treatments such as chemical burning, cryotherapy and laser ablation. No parent wants to do that to their child.
I notice that these children are typically very run down and that their immune system may be dealing with competing priorities, such as food sensitivities, eczema or asthma or other opportunistic infections such as colds and flus.
The functional medicine approach includes investigating these other factors and supporting a healthy immune response.
