About Rebecca

Functional Medicine Naturopath

I have 17 years experience in the area of naturopathy, complementary medicine and functional medicine, spanning across educational, government and clinical settings.

I have the privilege of people trusting me with their health, so they can work through even the most stubborn and complex health concerns. It’s important to me that my patients feel completely heard and understood, and that they leave our conversations with a greater understanding of their body and what we can do together to create change.

Some more about me

As my practice developed I became increasingly interested in treating skin conditions — primarily because I could see how frustrated my patients were with what was on offer from regular medicine and the lack of results.

The causes of skin conditions are complex, varied and sometimes unexpected.  For example: gut health, food sensitivities, hormones, disrupted immune balance, infection, environmental toxicity, stress, autoimmunity.

Consequently, I also spend a lot of time treating related conditions such as polycystic ovarian syndrome, irregular cycles, period pain, PMS, menopause, asthma, hay fever, irritable bowel syndrome, thyroid conditions, and autoimmune diseases.

Since graduating from Southern Cross University in 2003 with a Bachelor in Naturopathy, I have combined clinical practice with pursuits in a range of roles within the natural medicine field:

  • Lectured in nutrition and naturopathic degree programs
Regulated complementary medicines at the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA)
  • Coordinated mental health guidance for the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)
  • Served as a board member for the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia (NHAA)
  • Presented at NHAA International Conference in 2015 and 2019
  • Contributed to a national reference text: Herbs and Natural Supplements (Braun and Cohen)
  • Became a Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner ( Functional Medicine University, USA)

More recently, my clinical efforts were recognised by the natural health industry, when I won the 2020 BIMA Clinical Excellence award.

I believe healthcare should be a collaborative relationship, where patients are heard, understood, educated and involved in their own health journey.
